The Bishop’s Table

Located in the heart of the visitor area lies The Bishop's Table café restaurant with a view like no other in Wells. With free access to everyone, all you need to do is cross the drawbridge and you'll see the award-winning building nestled under the trees overlooking the croquet lawn and Palace buildings.

Serving delicious locally-sourced homemade food and some of the best coffee and cake you will find in Wells, it is the perfect place to meet friends for brunch, lunch or afternoon tea.

 

Summer menu launched

We’ve launched our new menu using all the best locally sourced produce and you may even get a chance to try some of the fruit and veg grown in The Bishop’s Palace Community Garden.

 
Why not try our deliciously creamy Somerset brie and caramelised red onion tart with samphire and baby leaf salad or Bishop’s Palace cider battered haddock with chips and minted peas, topped off by one of our yummy summer desserts.
 
Hot meals, sandwiches, light bites, snacks and puddings, all made fresh to order by head chef, Jamie.
 

New tea range to enjoy

 
Continuing on our mission to provide Wells with the best tea possible, we’ve launched a fantastic new tea menu courtesy of Tregothnan; a family company that makes tea from their homes in Cornwall and Kent.
 
The new range includes Early Grey, nettle, manuka, lemon verbena, afternoon and classic tea. Pop in for a cuppa (and a slice of cake) soon!
 

Opening hours

Now until end of September, daily 10am - 6pm (serving closes 5:30pm)

October - December, daily 10am - 3:30pm

Venue Hire

The Bishop's Table and Undercroft in the Palace building are available to hire for events, wedding receptions and parties. Booking a table

Apare from evening dining, tables are on a first come, first served basis so there is no need to book.
