Campaign Director

A brand new opportunity within Heritage Fundraising in Somerset

Location: Wells (a home based position is negotiable for the right candidate)
Salary: Competitive
Position Type: Fixed term for two years

The Bishop's Palace and Gardens has been home to the Bishop of Bath and Wells for over 800 years and continues to function as a working building at the heart of the diocese and the wider community. The site is also an important tourist destination within the City of Wells.

The Trustees are now embarking on one of the most ambitious projects in the Palace's history. The new project will make a significant difference in improving access to and understanding about the magnificent historic building. To realise this ambition, the Trustees are now seeking to recruit a Campaign Director to achieve the fundraising target of £2 million.

Representing The Palace Trust at a senior level, the Campaign Director will provide effective leadership and innovative strategic direction for the fundraising activities of the Trust, thereby delivering maximum fundraising performance.

The ideal candidate will have:

•  a proven track record of fundraising / development management within a heritage project

•  a comprehensive knowledge of fundraising opportunities in the heritage sector

•  considerable strategic planning and organisational skills

•  significant interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills in order to persuade and influence at decision making levels.

Retail and Admissions Assistant

Position Type: Permanent, working for an average of 8 hours per week

We aim seeking to recruit a hardworking and customer focused individual to provide a front line service in our retail and admissions department. Duties will include answering queries, selling day tickets and season ticket to the public, promoting events and selling items from the gift shop.

The successful candidate should have experience of working in a visitor attraction or a similar customer facing role. Experience of using tills and cash handling would be a distinct advantage.

The position will require the candidate to be available to work on Saturdays and one day during the week. The ability to work extra days to cover holidays is desirable.

Kitchen Porter

Salary: £5.52 per hour
Position Type: Permanent, working for an average of 10 hours per week

We aim seeking to recruit a hardworking and meticulous individual to provide support to our chefs. Duties will include keeping all areas and equipment within the kitchen at the highest standards of cleanliness, washing up and assisting the chefs. Other duties will include assisting the Restaurant staff in moving furniture in preparation for special events.

The successful candidate should have experience of working within a commercial kitchen. A current certificate in Basic Food Hygiene would be a distinct advantage.

The position will require the candidate to be flexible in the hours that they work to suit the seven day operation of the Restaurant.
